Women and world poverty

Halfway to the target date of 2015, many of the Millenium Development Goals set by the international community to tackle poverty eight years ago, are lagging far behind. A new report from ActionAid argues that they are failing to deliver because the basic rights of women in the developing world are being ignored.

Laura Turquet, women's rights policy officer at ActionAid spoke to Grace Davies about the thinking behind the report, and what she would like to see happen to get the goals back on track.

For more details, and to read the report, visit the ActionAid website.
